In the month of July 2026, we as members of the wider Orihuela Costa Neighbourhood Watch community have been made aware of the disturbing increase in street crime.

Two incidents were reported where local residents have been accosted in the street and personal items stolen from them by perpetrators unknown. One incident involved the theft of a mobile phone, whilst the victim was trying to assist a perpetrator who was asking for directions. The second incident occurred when a jogger approached a resident from behind before snatching a gold chain they were wearing about their neck.

Whilst these incidents did not take place in Altamira or indeed Las Ramblas we urge all residents, family and friends to exercise caution when out and about in the area.

Please be vigilant, be safe and report anything suspicious.

Caution is the better part of valour.
