My name is Lena Wallin and I’m the new president in Altamira. I’m a former Swedish teacher who now live in Altamira with my husband, many months of the year, but not full time. Besides being a teacher, I’m used to this type of committee work from Sweden where we live, but also professionally from the teacher’s union local, regional and national
I look forward to working with the committee the coming year. We are a good team with a lot of combined knowledge.

Beaches
There are 17 miles of blue flag beaches in our area, from La Marina to San Pedro Del Pinatar, all within a thirty minute car ride. Please be aware of the flag system used in Spain. The biggest local beach is Campoamor, once again it is served by restaurants and beach bars. Others in the area are: Cabo Roig, La Zenia beach, Mil Palmeras and many more (see tourist map)

Medical Information
Emergency Medical Centre
There is a local medical centre, Nuevo Centro de Salud which, at the time of preparing this document, is staffed 24 hours a day.
It is situated not far from the Farmacia at the roundabout by the bridge over the N332, exit 48 at Campoamor. As you enter the roundabout take the 9 o’clock exit and follow the road until a “Y” junction where you will find the centre which is signposted.
Take your EHIC card (European Health Insurance card, issued in your home country) and passport/EU identity card, without these items you will have to pay for the consultation.
You can telephone for an appointment by calling 9657 21400 – 09.00 – 22.00 & Sat 09.00 -15.00.
For those living permanently in Spain we suggest, as soon as it is possible, that you register there and this needs to be renewed every year. Remember Your EHIC card needs renewing – frequency varies by country.
Non EU-citizens need to inquire on any applicable regulations re Health Insurance card/policy.
